One fine summer evening three girlfriends, Roxanne, Trisha and Sandy, met at a restaurant to hangout and talk. Roxanne and Sandy are shamanic practitioners while Trish is still in training. Trisha and Sandy are sitting opposite each other on vinyl booth seating, while Roxanne is between them on a chair at the narrow end of the table.
After they ordered their Thai dishes, the conversation began about their workload. "I've got a client coming in on Saturday" Sandy says with a wide grin and her head bobbing side ways. But to Roxanne, Sandy's bubbly reaction is out of character, a different personality altogether. Roxanne is also having an extra-sensory perception confirmed which is why she sat alone rather with either of them at the wide booth. She was feeling guarded and uncomfortable from the very beginning, especially with carrying on in the conversation, so she grows quiet.
Trisha wants to know why Roxanne is so unusually quiet. She says to Roxanne, "Did I say something to offend you? You weren't this quiet last time or the time before that." But Roxanne doesn't want to scare anyone or make a fuss. She just says, "I'm fine. I'm feeling quiet right now. That's all"
But Roxanne is secretly worried about Sandy. She knows Sandy is not celebrating some big event tonight to justify her bubbly-ness. Sandy is usually grounded, calm, and slow to react. Roxanne looks closer at Sandy; she's just can't let go of the idea that her friend is not alone. She asks her, "Hey Sandy, are you feeling okay?" and when Sandy turned her head and made eye contact with Roxanne, it became obvious that two pairs of eyes are looking back at her. Again, Sandys in a bobby her head left and right way, "I'm fine."
